This welding kit is intended for use on plastic water tanks but can be used on almost anything made of polyethylene. Most plastic water tanks, rain barrels and many other items like canoes and kayaks are made of thermoplastic polyethylene. This kit can also be used to weld other types of plastic such as polypropylene but the correct type of filler rod must be used to match the material being welded.
This kit can be used to repair most water tanks manufactured by Norwesco, Poly-Mart, Ace Rotomold, Snyder, Den Hartog, Dura-Cast, Custom Roto Mold, Waterwall and almost all other polyethylene water tank manufacturers.
The 200W welding iron in Poly Welder Pro produces more heat, greater control, deeper blending and faster repairs than the 80W irons found in older poly welding guns. The specially designed teardrop welding tip allows access into tight areas while providing plenty of area to blend the plastic welding strips into the repair surface.

Polyethylene is also used in automotive applications like windshield washer bottles and radiator overflow tanks. It is also used on ATV fenders, small watercraft, motor home water tanks, dirt bike fenders, gas tanks and agricultural water/fertilizer tanks. Polyethylene is very stable (meaning few things will react with it), which is why it is almost impossible to get quality repairs using adhesives, and also why it is used to contain chemicals (gasoline, pesticides, etc.) that would react with other plastics. Welding is the best repair method for polyethylene.
A high degree of molecular branching with long chains gives molten LDPE unique and desirable flow properties, making it easier to work with while producing a high-strength and durable bond for both LDPE and HDPE welds. The color of this rod will match many polyethylene applications where you need a more invisible repair. This package contains 10 feet of polyethylene strips. These polyethylene strips are 12" long and approximately 1/16" thick and 3/8" wide.
